Games journalist Jason Schreier and multiple news outlets confirmed this is authentic internal footage from the next Mass Effect title, tentatively called Mass Effect Universe, which BioWare was developing before EA shut down the studio in October 2026. The clip uses in-engine pre-production assets and introduces a new protagonist alongside returning fan favorite Liara T'Soni. It was originally put together for internal pitch meetings and a planned N7 Day reveal before EA cancelled the project.
