France Football did launch an official "B.O.A.T." (Ballon d'Or Of All Time) fan poll, and Ronaldo's 2008 season leads with around 62% of the vote. What the video leaves out is that each vote costs €1 and fans can vote unlimited times. On top of that, Messi's votes are split across his eight different winning years, whereas Ronaldo fans mostly stacked votes on his 2008 season. It is an official fan contest, but because anyone can pay to vote repeatedly, it measures fanbase spending power more than an objective football verdict.
