The story of Juanito (Juan Gómez González) and how his memory fuels Real Madrid's comeback mentality is historical fact. After losing 2-0 to Inter Milan in 1985, Juanito famously gave his warning in broken Italian that 90 minutes at the Bernabéu is a very long time, before Madrid won the return leg 3-0. His Madrid career ended in 1987 after stomping on Bayern Munich's Lothar Matthäus, which got him a 5-year UEFA ban. He tragically died in a car crash in 1992. To this day, Bernabéu fans chant "Illa illa illa, Juanito Maravilla" at the 7th minute of home matches to honor his #7 shirt and unmatched fire.
