Checked reel · 15 Oct 2026
There is no stat in football history where only 20 free kicks have been scored from over 35 yards, nor did Cristiano Ronaldo score 16 of them. Hundreds of free kicks have been scored from 35 yards or more throughout football history. Legendary set-piece specialists like Juninho Pernambucano, Roberto Carlos, Sinisa Mihajlovic, and David Beckham routinely scored from extreme distances. While Ronaldo has scored iconic long-range free kicks (like his famous 2009 strike against Arsenal), this specific stat is just a viral myth made up by fan pages.
