Mel's Hole is a famous urban legend that originated as a call-in story on the late-night radio show Coast to Coast AM in 1997. No such bottomless pit actually exists. Local journalists and geologists investigated the story and found that no person named Mel Waters ever owned land or lived in that area of Washington State. Geologically speaking, an 80,000-foot-deep hole is also impossible because extreme underground heat and pressure would collapse it instantly. It is a fun creepypasta story, but entirely made up.
