The safe limit for uranium in drinking water set by the WHO and Indian standards is 30 ppb. Groundwater studies in Punjab's Malwa region have indeed found alarming contamination, with certain severe hotspots reaching over 500 ppb. However, claiming Malwa has the highest cancer rate in the entire world is untrue. Malwa's cancer incidence rate is around 108 to 136 cases per 100,000 people. That is above India's national average, but far below rates in places like Mizoram, or countries like Australia and Denmark where rates exceed 300 per 100,000.
