LEGIT

This story is legit.

British explorer Ed Stafford really did become the first person to walk the entire length of the Amazon River, covering roughly 6,400 km over 860 days between 2008 and 2010. He started with a friend who quit three months in, though he was not completely solo the whole way. A Peruvian worker named Gadiel "Cho" Sanchez Rivera joined him for the final two years. He survived encounters with drug traffickers and indigenous tribes, earning an official Guinness World Record.
